Overview

•It is the day that you will feel the smell of Ayeyarwaddy River .You will be picked up at your hotel and transfer to the jetty.When you arrive to the jetty ,board your private boat for an interesting journey on the Ayeyarwaddy(2-3hours depending on river conditions)to SALE,a town that developed during the late BAGAN era.
•Start your day by visiting YOKE SONE MONASTERY ,a 130 years old monastery with lots of Myanmar handicrafts and sculptures,built in1882 by King THIPAW ,the last king of Myanmar to witness its exceptional woodcarvings on the outside of the building and continue to SARSANA YAUNGCHI which was even built earlier by his father King MINDON where you can study Ancient Buddha images, antique large cabinets decorated with a variety of floral motif, Myanmar painting done in gold and silver colors on silk fabric. Inside the cabinets, full of silk packets containing Buddhist scripture written on palm leaves pertaining to 18th century.
• Annex to the monastery, there is a monastic school for village children and the teachers where you may be able to also witness how they study.Drive to MOUNT POPA (65 km – 1½ h), an extinct volcano with spectacular views where you can watch the suunset. You will have to climb the 777 steps to the shrine at the top .
•Next,on the way back to Bagan,you can make a short break at a toddy palm plantation where you can learn how useful Toddy palm.If it time permits,you can visit a typical local village.Feel the local life before you get out of the city.
